This tailored dress and jacket is Chanel's contemporary take on its traditional tailored suit. In this version, the standard wool bouclé is accented with gold thread and trimmed with jewel-like beadwork as well as fur. The ensemble includes an oversized, heavily decorated belt. These luxurious accents transform a classic daytime garment into an example of eveningwear with considerable panache.

Physical description

Knee-length sheath dress with V neckline and flaring hem, wool boucle in rich shades of cream, grey, yellow, brown, rust, and cream, with touches of gold thread, giving a soft, rich brownish effect worn with a fur-collared jacket in the same bouclé with jewelled beadwork, fur collar and cuffs, silk lining printed with the same bouclé design as the woollen fabric. Very wide belt of grey, brown and black printed suede (with a stone effect) with jewelled beading, including topaz, artificial pearls and dark amber cabochons; also natural stones (Scottish hardstones and agates?) cut with facets are used on the jacket clasps. The cuffs of the jacket can be worn rolled back to show the fur revers, or down over the wearer's hands.
