Jug of earthenware transfer-printed in black enamel, and barrel-shaped with a spreading base and mouth, and a flat loop handle and projecting lip. On one side is a round panel depicting the first attack on the Bastille and inscribed above with 'THE TRIUMPH OF LIBERTY' and below with 'The first Attack of the BASTILLLE / Taken by storm after a conflict of three Hours / by the Citizens of Paris, July 14, 1789.'. On the other side is a similar panel with another view of the Bastille, and inscribed below 'Storming the Second Draw-Bridge at the BASTILLE.'.
