Physical description

Jug of earthenware transfer-printed in black enamel, and barrel-shaped expanding slightly towards the foot and mouth, and with a projecting lip and loop handle. On each side are the Royal Arms of England as borne between 1714 and 1801, with supporters and trophies and the motto 'DIEU ET MON DROIT' enclosed within an oval frame of husk-pattern. In front is a bunch of auriculas, carnation and vetch below a panel of rococo scrolls and foliage within which, painted in black, is the inscription 'EWE / BRISTOL'.
