Physical description

Hat made from duck-egg blue wool with a high crown and floppy, undulating brim, densely top-stitched to resemble straw. It appears to have been made from a long strip coiled into shape and hand stitched together with a centre-back seam at the brim. The hat band is of dark brown straw. The hat is lined with white silk and has an inner band of corded, buff silk ribbon.
There is a rectangular, woven, black and white silk label sewn into the crown; 'JEAN BARTHET 107.FG Saint-Honoré. PARIS.'
