Place of origin

The Millennium School and Health Centre occupy a site in the Millennium Village, a key urban regeneration scheme on the Greenwich Peninsula in London. It opened in 2000.

The three interconnected buildings are placed by the north-west entrance to the new village, besides the pedestrian route to the Dome. Right by the village entrance stands the school hall, whose circular form creates a symbolic gatepost or lighthouse for visitors and villagers alike. Education and healthcare are linked on one site and provide full integrated services.

The client was English Partnerships, the Government agency responsible for national regeneration.
