Object history
The following reference has been taken from Calloway, S. (1998). Aubrey Beardsley. V & A Publications:

'Max Beerbohm wrote that he was strangely haunted by this curious image of the contrasted cynicism and knowing innocence of age and youth. Beardsley later cut the original drawing into two halves, the left hand section, now in the Fogg Art Museum, was one of the drawings upon which Beardsley experimented, not entirely successfully, with colour washes'.
