From departmental notes:

'The photograph shows Martin Hardie, then Keeper of the Department of Engraving, Illustration and Design, kneeling on the floor of the exhibition area and examining posters. Many posters are also shown already attached to walls and screens, including works by `Ashley' (Ashley Havinden), E McKnight Kauffer, C R W Nevinson, Paul Nash, Edward Wadsworth, etc. The negatives for this series, and others made by Hoppe in the V&A in 1931, are in the E O Hoppe Archive at Curatorial Assistance Inc, Pasedana, Ca, USA.'
