Figure of Shakespeare in lead-glazed earthenware painted in overglaze enamels. He stands on an oblong plinth painted black. The poet is wearing a striped green jacket, mauve cloak lined yellow, brown knee-breeches, white stockings and black shoes. He rests his right elbow on a pile of three books (one is inscribed 'LAV') which are laid on a white marbled three-sided pedestal, moulded with theatrical trophies and busts of Queen Elizabeth I, Henry V and Richard III, and with his left hand points to a scroll hanging from the pedestal and covered with an inscription of which only the words 'The Globe also' and 'Shakespeare' are legible. On the back of the plinth the initials 'P.V.' are incised.
