Object history | This item was acquired as part of a consignment of 111 tiles of various types that was assembled from purchases made by Caspar Purdon Clarke, Assistant Director of the museum, then called the South Kensington Museum, while he was in Istanbul in 1893. The vendors are named as Kevork Kelekian and J. Moisé of the Grand Bazaar, and M. Gherson and J. Eskenazi of the Rue Péra (now İstiklâl Caddesi). The total price was recorded as £27.19s.9d, and the consignment was accessioned as 1308 to 1353-1893. |
