Physical description
Bowl of red earthenware with decoration cut through a white slip and painted in brown and green under a greenish glaze. The inside of the bowl is taken up with a large circular medallion filled with a squatting human figure with outstretched arms, and wearing a spotted robe with sleeves.

Bowl Earthenware wich incised decoration Persian ("Garrus" ware); an old bowl with new decoration C.211-1926 The decoration hsa been cut through the glaze of an original bowl and the piece then re-glazed and re-fired. The bowl, with rather plain decoration, may have been fairly old. The new decoration was done in the 1920s when this type of ware was avidly collected in the West. The style of drawing is impossible for the 12th century when the original "Garrus" wares were done.(Old 133 G label)
Object history
Dr Y. Crowe believes the bowl is modern, possibly 20th century (Dec. 1976).
