Mutatis Mutandis

Photograph Sequence
ca.1969 (made)
Artist/Maker

These nine images of computer drawings by Herbert Brün were given to the V&A by the Computer Arts Society (CAS). The Society was established in London in 1968, and it went on to organise a number of exhibitions in the following years. The images were probably shown at Event One, held at the Royal College of Art in 1969, and the Creative Computers exhibition held at the Gordon Maynard Gallery, Welwyn Garden City, in 1972. The catalogue for the latter show includes the following text:

"Herbert Brun is Director of the Experimental Music Studio at University of Illinois. The drawings illustrated are musical scores for keyboard pieces and were performed by John Tilbury at the Computer Arts Society Event One in London in 1969... Nine Computer Scores..."
