Large round dish, stencilled for export, 19th C. Blue rim. Border with complex close-placed bits of stencilling, containing three wavy-outlined reserves with freehand painted bits of landscapes. Inner narrow zigzag border. Central, fully developed, Three Friends Ring, now a Japanese brand mark, copied nowhere else. It has the Chinese Three Friends of Winter
(branches of pine, prunus, bamboo) in a ring, rhythmically shaped. For an early stage in development see Finch no
