Place of origin

The interior is painted with the arms of Lyte, gules a chevron between three swans argent, beneath the crest, on a trumpet, a swan rising argent, which is inscribed on either side L/ R A/ 1676. Frank Britton notes that the crest is usually recorded as a swan in front of three plumes; but Harlean 1559/35 shows two alternatives of this and also a swan on a trumpet, with the inscriptioon 'ye beaks of ye swans on ye Coate with ye Crest of ye trupet swan is or and ye legs sable.' The sides are decorated with lions rampant supporting shields, one of which bears the arms of the City of London, argent, a cross gules, in the first quarter a sword of the second. The others bear what appear to be imaginary arms. They all have a chevron with either three fleurs-de-lys, three roses/daisies? or three clover-like flowers. All the decoration is in blue.
Body colour: Buff.
Condition: At least two finials replaced.
Glaze: White. Underside of feet wiped clean of glaze.
Shape: Underside slightly convex. (Alphabetic shape codes as used in appendix to Archer. Delftware. 1997)
