Mug of tin-glazed earthenware, painted. A farmhouse with a woman feeding geese and chickens, a dog, two cows, three figures hay-making with fences, sponged trees and hills. Within the curve of the handle, which has leaf decoration, is the inscription C H/1785. All the decoration is in blue. The rim is in brownish red.
Body colour: Buff.
Glaze: Greenish white with a slightly turquoise area around the inside of the mouth and lightly crazed.
Shape: Handle of oval section with rounded lower terminal. The base is of glass. (Alphabetic shape codes as used in appendix to Archer. Delftware. 1997)
