Mug of tin-glazed earthenware, painted. The interior has two low temperature over-glaze gilt lines enclosing linked gilt wreath motifs. The handle has gilt leaves and berries. The exterior is covered with powdered blue and with gilt dots with the exception of five reserved panels, four of which enclose gilt flower sprays, while the fifth has a gilt monogram within a wreath of flowers and berries. The monogram may be L or S and N or V or some combination. The upper rim is in gilt. Body colour: Buff. Glaze: Greenish white.
Shape: Handle of flattened oval section with pointed lower terminal. The base is of glass. (Alphabetic shape codes as used in appendix to Archer. Delftware. 1997)
