Gallery label | Robert J. Bingham was invovlved in the pioneering photographic documentation of the Great Exhibition in London in 1851. The Paris Universal Exhibition of 1855 followed its successful example. Bingham, an Englishman resident in Paris, was again asked to photograph the exhibition. This image shows the Naval Trophies and Furniture section and is one of a series that records the construction of the building and the exhibits and displays which included large sections of photographs.(1987) |
