Food warmer of tin-glazed earthenware, painted. The exterior of the body has flowers and leaves below a border of floral and diaper decoration with sgraffito on some of the leaves. The container and lid have geometric and diaper ornament. The numbers 16 and 19 (or 91 and 61) are painted on the underside of body and lid respectively. All decoration is in blue. Body colour: Buff. Glaze: Bluish white inclined to pool. Many small white dots in the glaze, particularly visible on painted areas. The foot-rim of the body, lower rim of lid and the underside of lamp-bowl and container are all wiped clean of glaze.
Shape: The cylindrical body has two moulded scroll handles below each of which are two round bosses. The interior has two small round holes venting to two identical press-moulded hollow human heads applied at the front and back of the body, which has a low recessed foot. Physical description
Food warmer of tin-glazed earthenware, painted. The exterior of the body has flowers and leaves below a border of floral and diaper decoration with sgraffito on some of the leaves.
