Physical description

Dish of tin-glazed earthenware. A central rose with geometric decoration and a border of alternating schematic 'Conch Shells', chrysanthenums and tassel-like ornament painted in blue. Three stilt marks on the front (11 cms point to point).
Body colour: Buff.
Glaze: White. Thick greenish streaky lead-glaze over a pale slip covers the entire back. Foot-rim has probably been partially wiped clean of glaze.
Shape: Shape B. Foot pierced with one hole before firing. (Alphabetic shape codes as used in appendix to Archer. Delftware. 1997)
