Object history
The Museum Registers record "Fragment of a Vessel, of enamelled buff-coloured earthenware, painted in red and blue and decorated wtih gilding. Found in the ruins of Rhages (Rhé) [Rayy] destroyed in the 12th century. Persian... Bought along with Nos. 1537 to 1539-1903. Decorated with a lozenge-shaped interlacing foliated device.' It is noted in script that it was purchased along with 1537 to 1539-1903, from 'Mr. Neury, Queens Hotel, 104 Oxford Street'.
