Physical description

Tin-glazed earthenware tile, square, transfer-printed in black with the title 'Mrs Barry in the character of Sir Harry Wildair' above and below of an actor. It is one of twenty-six tiles depicting portraits of famous actors and actress, each within a border of theatrical trophies, including ribbons inscribed with the name of the person and his or her part.

The subject of this tile corresponds with a print published by T. Lowndes in 'Lowndes' New English Theatre' in 1776-1777.
