Designs of stylised geometric and floral forms, possibly for inlay on furniture

Drawing
ca. 1903 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Brangwyn habitually used the most wretched scraps of paper, backs of letters, bills, advertisements, menu cards, and other ephemera in his haste to dash down his first ideas. However, the high quality of finish and detail on the completed furniture itself contrasts sharply with these rough beginnings. There was, however, enough information contained in these scribbles for the craftsmen and cabinet makers to do justice to Brangwyn's ideas.
