Bibliographic reference | The artist made this print after seeing a mother in a post office queue. In the registered file (93/1456) he copied out the note from his work book which accompanied the original pen drawing:
'I was standing in a post office and there was a woman in front of me with three small children. She had a huge rucksack on her back with a child in it, her other two children were running around her legs. She was squat as if she had been hewn out of stone. She reminded me of Lessings' 'The Good Terrorist' because she had assumed so many responsibilities. She appeared harassed by worry and a gritty life somewhere else'. |
