Biba, set up in 1963 by designer Barbara Hulanicki, and her husband John Fitz Simon as a mail order boutique, eventually expanded its product range to include interiors and furnishings, as well as lifestyle accessories. Several wallpapers were produced in the same muted mauves, purples, pinks and browns that were typical of the fashions. The designs were heavily influenced by Art Nouveau styles and patterns.
