Trial portrait medallion of Admiral Keppel in brown stoneware. Oval medallion (9.7 x 7.9 cm) with head and shoulders portrait in low relief; he faces left and wears a naval frock coat and wig; the front is impressed 'KEPPEL' below truncation; the back is impressed 'WEDGWOOD & BENTLEY' and '2079', and with three large firing holes. Brown stoneware with slight surface sheen, both relief and support produced in a mould and luted together before firing.
