The main decorative motif is the outline of a lotus flower, left in reserve, with details painted in red and gold leaf, with outlines in black.

Object history
The technique known as 'cuerda seca' (dry cord) is where a thin outline of wax is painted around the decorative motifs to stop the pigments from running into each other during the firing process. Bought from the Myers Collection.
