Object history
Bought from the Myers Collection.

This tile was once part of the mihrab in the Maydan Mosque in Kashan, now in the Islamic Art Museum, Berlin. It formed part of the calligraphic border running around the inner mihrab, between the pilasters. A replacement tile was made in the early 20th century in London.
