Physical description

Stereoscopic photograph of the Moon. Inscribed on the back with 'The accompanying Stereoscopic Photograph gives an 'ocular proof' of its spherical form, and the extraordinary physical character of its surface. Possessing neither atmosphere, water, nor life in any shape, it presents a scene of utter desolation and ruin - a chaotic mass of stupendous mountains, yawning gulfs, and extinct volcanoes'. Ca. late 19th century.
