The mountaineers are wearing civic clothes ca. 1860s, the men in waistcoats and round brimmed hats. The group of four includes one women who is wearing a long pleated skirt. The group are moving across a glacial passage with mountains rising to their left, and each of them is carrying a long pole with a slightly hooked end.
Lettered with titles, the artist's name, the printer's name and address and the number 3269.
