Physical description

Stereoscopic photograph depicting mountaineers in Switzerland, at Oberland Bernois, the highest region in the canton of Berne. The mountaineers are wearing civic clothes ca. 1860s, the men in waistcoats and round brimmed hats. The group of four includes one women who is wearing a long pleated skirt. The group are moving across a glacial passage with mountains rising to their left, and each of them is carrying a long pole with a slightly hooked end.
Lettered with titles, the artist's name, the printer's name and address and the number 3269.
