Endless edge Hyphen - Wien

Drawing
1998 (drawn)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Paul Neagu (b.1930, Bucharest, Romania; died 2004) lived in the UK from 1969 and was an influential figure in European art. He always worked in a variety of media including sculpture, installation, painting and performance. This drawing comes from a collection given by the artist to the V&A in 1999. Through these drawings it is possible to trace the development, metamorphosis and recurrence of specific motifs in Neagu’s oeuvre (notably such ‘signature’ forms as the hyphen, the starhead, and the ‘subject generator’). This is a working drawing for a public sculpture - 'Endless Edge Hyphen' - planned for Vienna.
