Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark (1906-1968), who wore this dress as a child, was the youngest of the three daughters of HRH Prince Nicholas of Greece and his wife Grand Duchess Elena of Russia. In 1934 she married into the UK royal family: her husband was Prince George, Duke of Kent. She was generally popular and her elegant appearance led to her being also much admired as a fashion influence.

| Physical description | Girl's dress of unlined white linen with a rounded lace edged neck and short puffed sleeves with lace edged cuffs. The circular yoke band and cuffs are embroidered with narrow heart shaped leaf motifs worked in white, and the upper yoke is of tucked lawn. The fullness of the dress falls from the yoke in partly stitched box pleats (decorated with white frogging) and pencil pleats. The garment fastens at the back with three linen covered buttons with loops, and four concealed buttons and buttonholes. |
