Place of origin |
As part of her series Postscript, Veronica Bailey photographed an archive of love letters between artists Lee Miller and Roland Penrose. Each image is titled with a line from the correspondence. Miller wrote this letter to Penrose from her hotel in Athens in the summer of 1938.
Bailey's images emphasise verticality and address the sculptural possibilities of working with paper. In this series, the flexibility of the pages meant that they could be manipulated into more organic, sometimes sensual, shapes.
