This gold medal from the Universal Exhibition in Paris from 1855 depicts the Emperor Napoleon III as well as the arms of the French Empire with the collar and star of the Legion of Honour, surrounded by twenty shields of the arms of States. It was awarded as a great medal of honour.

Physical description

Medal, gold, struck from a die; 'grande médaille d'honneur.' Obv.: NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR. Bust to right. Signed ALBERT BARRE. Rev.: EXPOSITION. UNIVERSELLE. AGRICULTURE INDUSTRIE of the French Empire with the collar and star of the Legion of Honour, surrounded by twenty shields of the arms of States.
