Physical description

Baby's bib of white linen, quilted and embroidered. The bib has a rounded neck worked with a single line of feather stitch in white, and is edged throughout with a scalloped border. The shape of the bib is cut in a combination of curving and angled lines, and embroidered with stylized flowers and foliage on scrolling stems, against a quilted background. It fastens at the back of the neck with a button and stitched loop.

(original record) Bib. Linen, quilted and embroidered in the style of the 18th century. Worked in the 19th century by Miss Mary Jane van Loest, superintendent in Dr Barnardo's Girls' Village Home.
