This bronze medal is a prize for the first class from the Universal Exhibition of Agriculture, Industry and Art held in Paris in 1855. The obverse depicts the Emperor Napoleon III together with the arms of the French Empire with two sceptres and a mantle behind, surmounted by the crown and surrounded by branches of palm and olive and with the collar and the star of the Legion of Honour, surrounded by twenty shields of the arms of States. At the bottom there is a blank cartouche and the medal is stamped on the edge with the word 'Cuivre'.

Medal, bronze, struck from a die; 'médaille de 1re classe.' Obv.: NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR. Bust to right. Signed ALBERT BARRE. Rev.: EXPOSITION. UNIVERSELLE. AGRICULTURE INDUSTRIE. BEAUX- ARTS. APRIS. 1855. The arms of the French Empire with two sceptres and a mantle behind, all surmounted by the crown and surrounded by branches of palm and olive and with the collar and star of the Legion of Honour, surrounded by twenty shields of the arms of States. At the bottom there is a blank cartouche and the medal is stamped on the edge with the word 'Cuivre.'
