The drawing has affinities with the perspective view published in Vitruvius Britannicus, Vol III, 1725 but the forecourt is shown in this drawing as being much deeper and there are variations in the building itself.

Perspective view of Castle Howard with its front and side courts as intended by Vanbrugh. On the back are the plans of the two principal floors of an unidentified small house.
