Object history
The artist was also the most prolific Parisian publisher of designs for furniture and upholstery c.1840-1880 and edited the illustrated journal Le Garde Meuble (1844-1903). The Album du Sculpteur Parisien was one of a series of furniture albums published by Guilmard, who also produced the standard work on historic engraved ornament, Les Maitres Ornamentistes (1880).
