Object history | This is possibly one of a pair its companion being sold in the same sale of works owned by Sir John Pender's held at Christie's in 1897. The work now in the Victoria and Albert Museum's collection was lot number 144 and was referred to as 'An Interior. Five figures in costume of the seventeenth century' its companion was lot 143 and described as 'An interior. There are five ladies, three of whom are seated and two standing.' |
