Vase of porcelain, with square body, tapering slightly downwards, concave neck. Painted in blue, copper-grey and celadon-green under a clear glaze, on the four sides with the flowers of the seasons with birds and insects. Sprays of flowers on the shoulder, bamboo on the neck. The base unglazed except for a square piece inset, which contains the mark.

Bequeathed by Mr. George Salting, accessioned in 1910. This acquisition information reflects that found in the Asia Department registers, as part of a 2022 provenance research project.
Bought by Mr. Salting for £23 at the sale of the collection of Sir Thomas Gilbson Carmichael Bt., (afterwards Lord Carmichael) at Christie's, May 13th, 192, Lot 223.
