The Romanian Salvation Front (FSN) was the first post-communist political party founded in Romania. In 1992 the FSN split into two parts, the FDSN and another faction which became The Democratic Party in 1993. Ion Iliescu was the first president of FSN. During the 1990 elections in Romania the FSN obtained the majority of mandates in Parliament (67,53 %). The National Liberal Party (PNL) and Romanian Hungarian Democratic Union (UDMR) were the other successful parties. These were the first democratic elections in Romania following the overthrow of the communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu. The poster shows the map of Romania filled with the colours of national flag (red, yellow, and blue). The electoral symbol of the FSN, the rose, is imprinted in the centre of the map.
