Mug of salt-glazed stoneware, cylindrical in shape and spreading slightly to the foot, with a reeded loop handle of flattened section, and on the front, in low relief, is a carousal scene entitled 'MIDNIGHT CONVERSATION', flanked by panels containing shields within wreaths, with the arms of Bertie, Hales, Leveson-Gower and Vane, and also eagles and other birds, monkeys, crocodiles and fishes, and at the foot is a border of acorns and leaves.
