Physical description

'BBC Symphony Orchestra 1963-64 Season at the Royal Festival Hall'. Concert programme with 20 pages (plus covers), for a classical music concert of 'Romeo and Juliet' by Berlioz, at the Royal Festival Hall, 11 December, 1963. Lettered with concert details and details of publication etc.
The design is a loose adaptation of F. H. K. Henrion's Royal Festival Hall symbol. Inside are adverts for EMItape, the conductor Colin Davis on HMV, BBC broadcasts, Fergusson stereograms and Challen pianos.

Historical context note

The lyre and crown symbol designed in 1950 by F.H.K. Henrion (1914-1990) for the London County Council RFH, was deployed on cutlery, staff uniforms, the hall's fixtures and fittings.
