In the series 'Drawing Light', Tess Hurrell constructed several temporary 'sculptures', installations consisting of blank screens through which light is projected. In one image, the artist has ripped through the screen and in others she has placed unidentifiable objects behind it. The resulting play of light is captured in rich black and white tones, wherein the abstractions 'represent an imagined and metaphysical space within a realist framework'. The photographs are explorations into the shape, texture and transparency of the screens and the space and objects behind them.
