This bronze medal was struck to commemorate the sixtieth year of Queen Victoria's reign. The obverse depicts the Queen while the reverse bears the inscription 'GOD SAVE THE QUEEN'. The crowned mongram VRI is also depicted within a wreath together with ships at sea and a lighthouse. Above this there are five shields bearing the names of continents, with the motto LOVE PEACE AND UNION.

Physical description

Medal, bronze, struck from a die. Obv., VICTORIA QUEEN AND EMPRESS TO COMMEMORATE THE 60TH YEAR OF HER MAJESTY'S REIGN. Crowned and laureated bsut of Queen Victoria to left. Signed F. BOWCHER. F. Rev: GOD SAVE THE QUEEN. The crowned mongram VRI within a wreath; ships at sea and a lighthouse. Above, five shields bearing names of continents, with the motto LOVE PEACE AND UNION; below, Signed SPINK LONDON.
