This oak triptych is carved with five subjects. These include the Nativity, the Presentation of the Infant, the presentation of the Virgin in the Temple, the Annunciation, and the Adoration of the Magi. Each subject is surmounted by open gilt floral scrollwork and above the centre panel there is a pediment of similar ornament with a blank shield in the centre. Each side leaf of the triptych is painted on the outside and had a hinged cover, with painted images of saints on the inside. These include a female saint with four children, one on her left arm, St. Thomas, or St Jude, and three at her feet St Paul(?), St Matthias, St James the Less; a female saint holding St John the Evangelist on her right arm, and with St James the Great at her feet; St Agatha; St Agnes.

Physical description

Triptych of carved oak, painted and gilt; carved with the Nativity, the Presnetation of the Infant, the presentation of the Virgin in the Temple, the Annunciation, the Visitation, the Adoration of the Magi. Each subject is surmounted by open gilt floral scrollwork; above the centre panel is a pediment of similar ornament, and over each side leaf a half pediment, while below are four brackets, also in openwork, with a blank shield in the centre. Each side leaf is painted on the outside and had a hinged cover, which is painted on the inside; these images show a female saint four children, one on her left arm, St. Thomas, or St Jude, and three at her feet St Paul?, St Matthias, St James the Less; a female saint holding St John the Evangelist on her right arm, and with St James the Great at her feet; St Agatha; St Agnes.
