Object history
Purchased by Lady Charlotte Schreiber from Samuel, London, for £75 in December 1879. In her Journals, vol. II, p. 252 (December 18th 1879) she recorded: 'Called at ... a new shop, Samuel's, where we saw a magnificent Bristol vase. He wants a very large price for it, talks of £150'. On 22nd December (vol. II, p. 253) she records: 'C.S. went with me to Samuel's, and after some negotiation, it ended in our buying the Bristol vase for £75, just half what he had talked about at first.'
