This is a bronze statuette depicting the goddess Latona with her Children, Apollo and Diana. Latona, known as Leto in Greek mythology, was the daughter of the Titan couple Coeus and Phoebe. She became the mistress of Jupiter and conceived the twins, Apollo and Diana, with him. There is another example of this statuette at the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford in the Fortnum Bequest. A third example, misnamed as 'Charity' is in the Thiers Bequest at the Louvre. This statuette was previously attributed to the Italian sculptor Guglielmo della Porta,16th century, but it is now thought to be French, 17th century.
