This vase was made in Fujian, south China. It was then exported to Sarawak, and bought by the Museum in 1909. Its place of manufacture remained uncertain for a long time until similar pieces were excavated from kilns in Fujian.

Physical description

Vase of porcelain, covered with white crackled glaze. The body expands upwards from the flat base to the shoulder and then curves abruptly into the narrow mouth, which has a moulded rim. For SE Asian market
