This roundel of enamelled terracotta is a nineteenth copy from an original work of Della Robbia ware of about 1500 in the Museo Nazionale del Bargello, Florence. In the centre in white, on a blue ground, is a half-length figure of the Virgin with the Infant Saviour standing on her lap and placing an arm round her neck; to her right is part of the scrolled back of the chair on which she is seated. This group is surrounded by a wreath of flowers, fruit, and foliage, painted in natural colours.
