The head of Pierre Frédéric Dorian was Minister of Works in the Government of national Defence. He efficiently organised the production of the weapons of war in every available work-shop in Paris. He was the one member of the Government of National Defence to prove himself an able administrator and the only official to remain popular both with his colleagues and with the Reds. On 31 October he politely turned down an invitation from the insurgents to head their new Government.
Lithograph, coloured by hand.
